New look FirmSites.co.uk

A fresh look for 2011

newandoldsiteWell for those of you that visit FirmSites frequently you will notice, along with this blog, a number of new additions to the redesigned site. I wanted to take the site from being a simple selling tool to an interactive hub for my clients. To that end all help information is now moving online so it can be accessed, like the CMS, from any computer.

The other big drive is to be more interactive, hence the blog and tweet feeds. I spend a lot of my day advising my clients to engage in social networking while failing to do so my self and my big endeavour this year will be to follow some of my own advice. The blog will give out information such as changes to FirmSites like new features in development and marketing tips while the twitter feed will allow people to know when new sites go live and blog posts are made.

In the bottom right of the page are the links to the facebook page, twitter page and RSS blog feed. I would be grateful to all who like, follow and subscribe to these.

Design wise I felt the old site had grown too long and it was difficult to move around, as much the new home page is far more graphical with more emphasis on the service (since that's what most people who come to the site look for!) rather than the latest clients. I have also simplified the business' colour scheme from the old 4-tone with blue, yellow, brown and grey to just a 2-tone orange and grey. The original FirmSites website was designed when I was very busy getting the business going so this time around I feel I have had more of a chance to give my own site the standard of design that my clients recive.

Redesigns like this show the power and flexibility of CMS based sites and their ability to be completely redesigned without ever being taken down. Hopefully it will be well received by my clients!
